The actor and political activist Laurence Fox has been charged with a sexual offence after allegedly sharing a compromising photograph of the TV presenter Narinder Kaur on social media without her consent.

The 46-year-old is said to have shared the image of the broadcaster, who appears on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and previously on GB News, in a tweet posted in April 2024.

At the time, Kaur, 52, said the image was “unimaginably mortifying” in a post on X.

Police have charged Fox after an 11-month investigation. He is due to appear in court next month.

A Metropolitan police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged with a sexual offence following an investigation by the Metropolitan police.

“Laurence Fox, 46, will appear at Westminster magistrates court on April 24 charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The charge relates to an image that was posted on a social media platform in April 2024.”

Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act relates to “cyber flashing”. The charge was introduced in 2023 and makes it an offence to intentionally share a sexual image of someone without consent, with the aim of causing alarm, distress, humiliation, or for sexual gratification.

Offenders can face up to two years in jail and be placed on the sex offender register. It is also against the law to share upskirting photographs taken by other people.

Fox, of Peldon, Essex, was fired from GB News in October 2023 after an on-air rant about the journalist Ava Evans.
